The CEO of Knowmail, an Israeli startup that’s trying to solve email overload with artificial intelligence, has relocated to Boston with plans to grow a local office to as many as 20 people in 2016.

Knowmail is focused on developing AI approaches to improve corporate messaging, to help workers prioritize emails. The company’s algorithms “recognize an individual’s state of mind and messaging consumption habits” in order to better manage the massive quantities of email, while predicting what the next ideal actions are for an employee.

The technology integrates into existing email applications and learns an individual’s behaviors, “allowing them to focus on the things that matter most and optimize the time spent communicating,” according to Knowmail. The focus is on Microsoft Outlook users. Knowmail is currently available by request for individual users, and there are apps for iOS and Android in development.

So far, Knowmail CEO and co-founder Haim Senior has relocated to Boston and is setting up the company’s office on Brookline Street in Newton. The startup plans to relocate two more executives and grow the local team to 10 to 20 employees next year, a spokesman said. Knowmail currently has a total of 10 employees.

Knowmail also considered a move to New York or Silicon Valley, but settled on Boston in part due to the proximity to numerous enterprise software companies in the area, the company said.

Knowmail raised a $1.2 million seed round in January from Plus Ventures, 2B Angels, AfterDox and INE Ventures.
